Sustainable toilet paper is transforming the industry
Toilet paper made from wood pulp sourced from Canada is causing deforestation. Popular brands have been criticized for their lack of sustainability. However, more environmentally friendly alternatives are emerging. Whole Foods, Green Forest, Who Gives a Crap, and Reel Paper are disrupting the industry by using bamboo instead of wood pulp. Bamboo is a fast-growing and sustainable resource. Reel Paper, backed by several investors, has raised $14 million in funding. They currently ship bamboo from China but are looking to develop bamboo farms in Central America for a closer source. Bidets are also competing in the market, but the choice between bidets and sustainable toilet paper depends on water availability in different areas.
